Wedding Ring

A pair of my wedding rings is now one ring. The other one's no longer with us. No big deal.

I attended a seminar this morning at Four Season Hotel, organized by Parkway Group Healthcare Pte Ltd and Mastercard. PGH owns three hospitals in Singapore. They are Mount Elizabeth, Gleneagles and East Shore. PGH also has an information center in Jakarta which can be reached at its 24-hour helpline: 5207773. Anybody needs to deal with the three hospitals mentioned above is recommended to call its information centre in Jakarta first.

My presence there was to find out about a heart bypass surgery in Singapore’s hospitals. I got all the information I want.

Just bought the best Indonesian – English dictionary by Alan M. Stevens and A. Ed. Schmiggall-Tellings. Originally, it is published by Ohio University Press and in Indonesia, it is published by Mizan, for sale in Indonesia only. The price is Rp. 196.000,-, not sure with the price of the one published by Ohio University Press.

The dictionary titled ‘A Comprehensive Indonesian-English Dictionary’ is really very comprehensive, as the result of documentation and research for twenty years. No kidding, twenty years. It will surely replace my Indonesian-English dictionary by John M. Echols and Hassan Shadily.

Any translators, libraries, linguists, students of English should have the dictionary.

For your information, if you go to bookstores or even if you go to Mizan representative in Jakarta, you won’t find the dictionary now. It will be available in two weeks. I have mine sent directly from Mizan, Bandung. Cannot wait. :)

Without realizing, I use e-mail more than using a facsimile machine for formal communication. No need to put signature, choice of words is also less formal than writing with a word processor, printing it in a piece of paper and signing it. I think that having to sign on a piece of paper influence the formality of a letter.

Ten years ago, when I started work here, there was no internet available so office communication was done in a conventional ways.

Without realizing, I have worked here for 10 years. I was a second year university student, having to leave office at 4 o’clock, rushing with my motorcycle to campus to catch my lecture started at 5 o’clock. I was young and single, full with energy of studying and at that time, working was my part time activity.

Now I am a graduate, married with a son and working is my first priority. Got a family to take care :)
