You must have passion to be a lecturer. Do you know why? Because you can not count on the salary / honorarium to earn a decent living. Am I exaggerating? You tell me.
I’ve got my honorarium for August. I teach twice a week and one session of 3 credits lasts for 2 hours and a half. By devoting that amount of time and energy with full responsibility, the university only pay me …. per credit. It’s not ethical for me to disclose the amount but I assure you that you don’t want to be a full-time lecturer.
It’s lucky that I enjoy teaching and I have a full-time job. I regard teaching as a hobby and I will be more than happy to teach even I don’t get paid.
I just can’t imagine those who earn a living as a lecturer. Personally, I think they should get more appreciation.
