Schroder is offering government bond FR004 with estimated yield per annum of 10 to 11.5% net. It’s called Schroder Fixed Maturity Plan (SFMP). Is it an interesting invesment? In my opinion, it’s not. Why?

First, nowadays banks in Indonesia are offering interest of 10.5% p.a with 20% tax deducted from the interest. Roughly, it’s about 8.5% net. Certain banks also offer incentive of 1.5% p.a net. So 8.5% + 1.5% is equal to 10%. Risk free and guaranted. SFMP’s yield depends on the market. It could be less than estimated yield calculated by Schroder. Besides, it carries risk of default.

Second, FR004 is no longer cheap. Its value is 2% higher than its price whereas a month ago, just a month ago when goverments bonds dropped due to massive redemption of mutual funds, FR004 reached 6% lower.

Then, what is interesting for investing now? I don’t know. It depends on your risk profile. Are you on a risk taker category or are you on a risk averse category?

Now that Andrew is one year old, we have to change his milk because Promil is only for babies up to one year. The next stage formula milk is called Procal, product of Wyeth, with no. 3 printed big on the can. 3 here means stage 3, stage 2 is called Promil and stage 1 is called S26.

I have just called Wyeth Indonesia asking about the quantity of water for one spoonful of milk. I inquire this because the measurement printed on the can between Promil and Procal is so different and not in sequence. It turns out that one spoonful of Procal needs 40 cc of water whereas one spoonful of Promil needs 60 cc of water. That’s why I need more spoons of Procal to make the same one bottle of 180 cc of milk.

Need to stock more cans of Procal. Andrew will still consume Procal until he is three.

What’s up Andre? Tks.
Salam rm ryadi pr

An sms from Rm. Agus Ryadi in Malang. He is a very nice and sincere (javanese: lugu) priest. He messaged me just to say hello. I replied back asking about his activities as an assistant to rector in an university in Malang.

I admire him being sincere as a catholic priest.

Santoso Tandio once told me that when he was in Singapore and not feeling weel, his wife bought him rice burger of Mos Burger at Takashimaya. He convinced me that it tasted good and healthy. Besides it was made of rice and therefore it’s suitable for the sick.

So, I was there searching around B1 (basement 1) floor and finally found it opposite to Yoshinoya. I had just had my buffet lunch at the hotel and decided to take away 1 chicken teriyaki rice burger and 1 ebi rice burger. It was about 1.00 pm. My flight’s 3 o’clock, so I rushed back to the hotel and directly took a cab to the airport.

Did I have my burgers? No, they’re still in my backpack and they stayed there until I reached home in Jakarta.

Rice burger of Mos Burger is an alternative. It’s good. My wife thinks so.

Shangri-La hotel, Kinokuniya and Borders are the three venues you could find me. I didn’t go out Orchard Road area. I didn’t even go to the church on Sunday morning because I was late, being not aware of the one hour time difference.

I got myself several books on Finance & Investments, several others on Religion. Didn’t buy any fiction books. Should have bought ‘Veronica Decides to Die’ but I forgot and ended up buying its Indonesian translation at Gramedia.

A buffet lunch and dinner in Shangri-La is really a food paradise. So many food to choose ranging from Japanese food, Indian, Asian, seafood that you have to decide to concentrate on for example Japanese food for lunch and seafood for dinner.

I enjoyed myself having great food and browsing books. Of course I have to thank my boss for the opportunity, last minute opportunity.

Andrew’s first birthday’s celebrated today at Bakmi GM in Puri Indah mall. Actually, his birthday’s on the second day of September, yesterday, but the venue’s reserved by somebody else.

Friends and relatives’re present bringing their children. We didn’t invite many because we want it to be a simple party, gathering together, having lunch.

I will upload some photos later.
